I've waited to post anything new because not much has changed since last week. But today was (sort of) an exciting day for me. Fifteen days post-surgery and the white medical tape that was glued over my incision finally fell off.
Here is a photo I took 5 minutes ago. Hot off the press! As you can see, the incision looks quite good. You can see some of the adhesive from the medical tape. You'll notice there is no longer any bruising. In fact, the bruising was gone completely as of yesterday, two weeks to the day past surgery. It never got any worse than the photos I posted right after surgery. The red spot simply faded away.
There is swelling that is hard to see in this photo. But the swelling has gone down considerably.
I think the incision looks great. Have a look . . .
Meanwhile, today was also exciting because my voice is sounding much stronger. Noticeably different over the past 48 hours I must say. Prior to that I could definitely talk, but there was this sensation of tightness in my vocal chord area. That tightness is still there, but the sound of my voice has really improved. And my volume has definitely increased. All in all my voice is coming along, quite a bit in just two week's time. It's quite an experience to listen to and feel the changes each day.
Finally, I'm taking my Synthroid daily, and supplemental calcium. I will likely wait until my post-op appointment with my surgeon (which is this coming Tuesday) before I post any new updates.
Feel free to ask questions or post comments in the meantime.
