Hi everyone! It's a gorgeous sunny day here in Michigan. I'm heading out to meet a group of ladies for brunch at a local restaurant. Before I left, I wanted to give you a quick update.
I've had several people email me to ask for an update on how my incision is healing since my thyroidectomy surgery in December.
It's been eight months now, and it's healing just fine. Take a look at the photo below and you'll see. You can also scroll through other posts to compare this photo to those photos taken soon after surgery.
I've followed my doctor's orders and put a moisturizer on my scar morning and night. I continue to massage the scar area to keep scar tissue from forming. My scar feels nice and smooth.
I've also had people ask me about my voice, and whether or not it's recovered to full strength. Yes. It has.
As you'll read in some of my previous posts, I wasn't able to talk for a few days after surgery. Then I was able to talk but at a lower, whisper volume. It was a couple of weeks before I could carry on a conversation without my voice tiring easily. And then awhile later I was back to my normal voice. In all, the journey was months, not weeks, but the progress was continual. I'd say a few months. Of couse, eight months post-surgery and my voice is nice and strong.
I'll have an update for you soon on my labs and progress dialing in the right Synthroid dose. Check back soon!
Have a great day everyone!
